Hi folks, no review today but I'm excited to share the 1st 10 pages of Sly Ada's IN THE YEARS OF SONDER.
A sci-fi actioner set in 2045, the story follows two idealistic, advanced humans whose lives get turned upside down when a research doctor hunts them for experimentation.

I found this to be really interesting, and I'm not a fan of "hard" sci fi. I'm hoping it will turn out to be a story about the people going through this, rather than focusing on the science/alien aspects of the tale. I'm sure after setting the stage in the first ten, the story will move on to introduce and focus on the cast of characters.
ReplyDeleteThe first couple of pages could use a bit more detail/information, so the scenes aren't jumping around quite so abruptly (e.g., we see the plane on the ground, then the next time we see it, it is falling from the sky on fire), but that's a quick massage. These first ten pages really caught my interest, and left me wanting to read more. The writing style was clean and clear, and didn't get in the way of the story.
BUT - whatever font this is written in has to go - on two occasions I had to reread a line, because I realized I was so focused on the distracting Up AnD dOwn of the font that I had no idea what I had just read.
This script is off to a solid start. Good job.
